'ब' Se Boredom

Hey! the above line pretty much summarises how my brain functions these days. nearly 3 months of nothingness after 2.5 years of rigorous preparation for NEET, if I'm going mad with emptiness, don't blame me! 

After days of procrastinating over my supposedly evident "Creative Block", I finally decided to write. Actually, I didn't have topics to write about and was afraid to resume poetry in fear of not being able to pen anything down, I thought bore हो ही रही हूँ, then let me read about boredom and might as well write on it!

Knowing about boredom made me feel everything but bored, because it actually has many dimensions. Being dull, listless or lazy along with being annoyed, frustrated or depressed is all linked to being bored! No wonder in Marathi we say "ए bore करू नकोस ग " to someone who is an irritating prick. Guess what, 'Being bored to death' can actually be literal, not just metaphorical as chronic boredom weakens mental health and increases mortality. 

"एवढ्या लवकर bore कशा ग होता तुम्ही ?"("how can you be bored so soon") This is my Jiji's and almost all of our grandparents' signature line. This is because even though we are less bored than our earlier generations, we are more afraid of boredom than them. Sorry if this sounds confusing, but we are so habituated of continuously engaging ourselves in work or scrolling the screen, our tiny attention span cannot take a big rest. 

The catch is, being busy is not an antidote to being bored. Rather, adding a small change to our mundane tasks, pretty much like redirecting a stream of water can do the work and set our brain buzzing again.

I hope I've not bored you by writing about boredom but I sure am not bored for today at least, as I've elevated my work experience from mere " पडे रहना " 😌😉
