Serotonin Please!

In this materialistic world

Everyone cares about themselves

It is delusional to believe that

Someone will always lend a helping hand

To a person in need

Remember that

Everyone is selfish and opportunistic

It is foolish to think that

Man cares about mankind

and

The world is our family

The truth is that

everyone pulls each other down

It is insane to think that

We rise by lifting others up

I tell you that

Kindness is a weakness

If you want to succeed you cannot think that

The strongest are the Kindest.

                                       -Radha

Pretty sad huh? Face it mate, these are indeed sad times. But, just take a moment and read the same poem up there in reverse, that is, from the last line to the first. The picture is different now, right? It indeed is. A depressing poem became a hopeful one by merely reading it differently. In these hopeless times, where random phone calls with friends and family members mostly revolve around Covid cases, deaths, oxygen emergencies and what not, mankind needs a pair of shades for an "Ulta" perspective which can filter out the unwanted negatives of life. Now, I'm not saying ki everyone should forget the reality and become hyper-optimistic, because that is sheer madness. What I'm saying is that instead of allowing ourselves to buckle down under the weight of problems surrounding us, we should face our difficulties upfront, look at the brighter side and just hang on to life. Okay, I just used three clichés in one sentence, but wouldn't you agree that something sounds cliché because it is true!

Folks, negative and positive vibes are even more contagious than Covid. All the Gullies of the world are already infested with negativity, thanks to hyper-sensationalizing media. Currently, positivity is in its "Apna time ayega" wala phase. So, lets just do the honors and usher positivity in, swaying to Lucky Ali's 'Ek Pal ka Jeena', whose lines were almost prophetically written for us-

"Tu has

kyuki duniya ko hai hasana...."

Believe me, the world needs more of serotonin today apart from the vaccine, and the good news is, that a single smile is enough to produce it!

Thank you for reading this post and I'd love to hear your thoughts on it! We'll meet again soon with a next post.

Bbye

Until next time

  5. Hey it's incredibly written. The poem is an absolute Marvel and really creates a sense of positivity in these dire times . I know I am sounding clichéd, but time is the best healer and time never stops. So it rightly said that 'this too shall pass' but till then let us spread smiles and all the happiness and love that we can through such motivational writing and keeping in touch with our loved ones. Keep going dear.
